In the first instance, we ask readers to use a surrogate copy for their research where one is available. If there is a specific research reason for needing to see the original item, then an application form can be provided. For more information, please contact our Reference Team.
In order to support an application, we would like included on the form details of the research that is being done. If we have offered a surrogate, please explain why this is not suitable for your research needs.
The application process takes up to 3 working days and approval is not guaranteed.
The relevant curator will be in touch with their decision and arrange a date of access should an application be approved.
