How does copyright infringement differ to plagiarism?

Answer

Though the two things can and do overlap, copyright infringement and plagiarism are two different acts – but both can lead to serious consequences and even legal action.

Copyright infringement is the failure to respect the economic and or moral rights conferred to the author of an original creative work; most typically through, but not limited to, the unsanctioned and or unlicensed reproduction, adaptation or distribution of either the whole, or a qualitatively or quantitatively substantial part of, said work.

Plagiarism is the act of fraudulently passing off, or attempting to pass off, the work of others as your own. An act of plagiarism can also result in an infringement of copyright, just as an act of copyright infringement can also constitute plagiarism.
